Birdwatching & Plein Air Painting

The Wallace Center and Chris and Timothy Joe (collectively known as the Joe Brothers) are hosting a bird watching and plein air painting event on April 19 on the Wallace Center’s six acres in Harpersville, Alabama.

The Joe Brothers are third-generation farmers and cattle ranchers, and birdwatchers. They founded Connecting with Birds and Nature Tours LLC to carry on their familial heritage.

The Joe family is a part of a long tradition of Black people who engage in bird watching as a form of recreation. Their work honors one of the methods of resilience that enslaved people in America used to endure bondage.

Join the Joe Brothers at the Wallace Center for a peaceful morning of birdwatching and painting. Register here for bird watching, painting, or both!

Birding: 9 - 10 am Painting: 10 am - 12 pm
