Out of Whole Cloth: Marking History & Making Home, 1865 - 1910
Emancipation was a beginning and an end. After 1865, millions of formerly enslaved people were left with their freedom and few other resources. This exhibit tells the story of three groups of newly emancipated people and their struggles to make a place for themselves on the Wallace Plantation in Harpersville, Alabama.
The Wallace Center is open for visitation by appointment and subject to staff availability. Please make visit requests at least a week in advance of the requested visit date. Complete the form below to submit a visit request.
