Out of Whole Cloth: Marking History & Making Home, 1865 - 1910
Emancipation was a beginning and an end. After 1865, millions of formerly enslaved people were left with their freedom and few other resources. This exhibit tells the story of three groups of newly emancipated people and their struggles to make a place for themselves on the Wallace Plantation in Harpersville, Alabama.
The Wallace Center is open for visitation, by appointment, Thursday through Saturday on the second week of the month. Available appointments are between 10:00 am - 4:00 pm. We will make every attempt to accommodate desired dates based on staffing.
Donations are appreciated but not required.
