ASCA awards two artist program grants to KAC

The Alabama State Council for the Arts has awarded KAC two grants totalling $13,000 effective 1/3 to 9/31/22.  One provides for the completion and opening of Bearing Witness: the Praise House created by Birmingham artist Tony Bingham.  The Praise House, the first sculpture on the grounds of the Wallace House, celebrates the spirituality and resilience of those enslaved on the property and allows a space for visitors to reflect on their experience of the House.  The second provides support for Brooklyn-based artist Elizabeth M. Webb, who has roots in Lee County, to conduct research in preparation for and to create an installation at the Wallace House and grounds that will open in fall 2022.
