The Alabama Archaeological Society AAS will host its summer meeting at the Wallace House on August 2 from 9:00 am - 3:00 pm.
AAS is a volunteer organization for professionals and people interested in history from an archaeological perspective. During this summer meeting, experienced archeologists will conduct a preliminary survey of a section of the Wallace Cemetery where Black ancestors who lived on the Wallace land are buried going back to the antebellum period. This preliminary survey will help identify unmarked graves of Black Wallace ancestors and preserve their legacy.
The meeting will also include a tour of the Wallace grounds and several talks with archeological experts and Wallace descendants. Register here to attend!
