OUR PLANNED VISITOR CENTER
Birmingham architect Wayne Hester has designed a visitor center for Klein. The preliminary rendering, pictured above, shows the entrances to two visitor bathrooms. The visitor center also includes a small kitchen that can be used for catering, a small meeting area, and laundry facilities. The exterior cladding is board and batten siding. The design is intended to be modern, evoking what might have been an original outbuilding. The visitor center is an important support facility for the historic Wallace-Klein House. It enables the house to serve as a venue for arts and education, Our events to date have required portable toilet facilities. We will begin fundraising for this building in 2021.
