Descendant Event for “Out of Whole Cloth: Marking History & Making Home, 1865-1910” Exhibit
To commemorate its newest exhibit, “Out of Whole Cloth: Marking History & Making Home, 1865-1910,” the Wallace Center hosted an private showing for the Wallace descendant community. “Out of Whole Cloth” explores the lives of three newly-emancipated families who lived on the Wallace land and invites visitors to imagine their lives as they navigated a new world.
Descendants from two of these families — the Datcher’s and McGinnis’s — attended the event, along with Black and white Wallace descendants. The event provided Wallace descendants an opportunity to commune and commemorate on a shared history.
