“Out of Whole Cloth: Marking History & Making Home, 1865-1910” Exhibit Opening

The Wallace Center was proud to host a public opening for its newest exhibit, “Out of Whole Cloth: Marking History & Making Home, 1865-1910.” Visitors stepped into the shoes of three families who lived on the Wallace land post-emancipation to imagine the lives people who had lived in captivity who were now tasked with charting a new path for themselves. To simulate that exploration, participants interacted with artifacts from the late 19th and early 20th century that newly emancipated people would have used in their day-to-day lives.
